Strength Point :

This is the best camera I have ever used. It takes great pictures and videos. It also comes with software that is very useful.

Weakness :

Only a few negatives: when using the fully automatic settings indoors the white balance is just a little off, but this is fairly common w/all brands in the entry-level range.

2. Canon EOS Rebel T2i (with 18-55mm lens)

Strength Point :
Fast performance; excellent photo quality; above average video-capture quality.

Weakness :

Annoying viewfinder; irritating control layout for video-capture.

3. Canon PowerShot S90

Strength Point : 

Having excellent control system for manual, semimanual shooting; fantastic-wide angle f2 lens; very good low-light photo quality.  

Weakness :

Performance is merely average; no HD movie mode or optical zoom while recording; no optical viewfinder and a couple other design miscues.  

Note : As long as you're not expecting DSLR speed in a tiny body, the Canon PowerShot S90 is an excellent compact camera for advanced amateurs. Read more Reviews....

Strength Point : 

The Best point and shoot camera for the money. It's easy to use - taking close-ups, or panoramic shots, the controls are intuitive and handy. With flash, without flash, macro, zoom..just simple clicks and your taking great shots. Great battery life.

Weakness :

Zoom smoothness was a bit better on the canon and the user interface and menu screens were also a bit better on the canon..

Strength Point : 

Easily captures amazing photos and videos. Colors are more vibrant and white balance is true-to-life. Enable to shoot any scene, near or far. Uses lens-shift technology to correct for unwanted camera movement.

Weakness :

Like others Canon products, most photos even bright outdoors had way bit noise.

6.  Canon EOS Rebel T3i 18 MP DSLR (EF-S 18-55mm)

Strength Point : 

Very user friendly, beautiful pictures, beautiful videos, big clear display, Nice kit lens, Eye-fi compatible, Battery life still very well during normal photo-taking.

Weakness :

Uploading pictures by eye-fi seems to eat the battery alive. It appears that the camera won't autoshutoff when uploading.

7. Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 10.1 MP 3.8x

Strength Point : 

Additional zoom was very excited without sacrificing the f2.0 lens. Better image stabilization then the LX3; better sensor; colors are slightly more accurate and the auto white balance works better; better low-light shooting. Faster autofocusing; Face detection; better processor; faster startup and shot-to-shot time; better battery life...

Weakness :

The lens cover needs to be built in. Should be a better panorama mode. Sony's "Sweeping panorama" feature is more fantastic.

8. Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS 12.1 MP 

Strength Point : 

Small form. Awesome. Its texture on the camera will help if you hands are wet (sweat, snow, etc). Very fast; Easy to operate one hand. Absolutely superb in low light.

Weakness :

Zoom being slow in video mode.

Strength Point : 

Inexpensive, small, and simple to use, control color and contrast can easily do that in the live mode.

Weakness :

Low lighting the camera doesn't react well; still have the blurriness problem.

Stength Point :
Speedy shooting performance; compact, lightweight design; plenty of fun, useful features, very good low-light photo quality for a compact camera.

Weakness :

Soft photos, videos, limited manual controls, GPS can't quickly be powered on and off.
